Where Do I Stand?
I have always loved taking pictures. I have owned cameras for as long as I can remember. I would take pictures of everything as a kid and everyone always seemed to love what I came up with. Seeing the world through a lens has always been an extension of who I am. My parents have always encouraged me to be creative and they bought me numerous cameras when I was younger. When I could have been spending my money on toys I was buying film.
I am passionate about many things in my life. I love music and I have been a drummer for the past few years. I love to skateboard, longboard, wake skate, wake board, and surf…basically I just like to be active especially if it involves some great sports and good people. I love comedy just as much as I love music and I'm guilty of quoting some of my favourite comedians from time to time. I love to tell jokes because they have the potential to make people laugh and sharing a few moments of laughter can really put a more positive spin on the day. I love to meet new people as I truly find everyone to be very interesting, which is another reason why I LOVE my profession. As a photographer I get to see the world through your eyes and get to capture where YOU stand.
I grew up in Sarnia Ontario Canada and have traveled quite a bit throughout Canada and the United States. The highlight of my travels has been surfing and meeting new friends. Looking back and reflecting on some of my travels I can't help but think that I was one brave girl. Always being intrigued by what was out there and what this world has to offer each of us.
People have chosen to work with me because I am devoted to what I do. Photography is not only my job but my lifestyle. I take pictures every day and am always looking for things that are interesting or beautiful. I want to capture those things that we pass but typically do not stand still long enough to see. I cherish the things in my life like family and friends and the moments we have with them as I know all too well that sometimes those moments are cut short. I want to be remembered as inspiring and I want to be remembered as always trying to see the positive in life. I've built StandPoint Photography, not only celebrating my own individuality, but recognizing that every one of us has our own incredible StandPoint and the true testament to my work is that I can capture that for you. When you look back on the work I've done I want you to feel good about who you are.
The last thing I want to do is shout out to all the people in my life. I have the most amazing parents who have been there through every idea and adventure I've ever had. They've sat up with me late at night when I needed to talk things out. They remained calm when I’ve come to them with the phrase "I've got an idea". They've put hours into helping me with my exhibits and sitting for pictures. They are encouraging and supportive and I couldn't be luckier to have them.
My sister is also a big part of who I am. We share the same childhood and have a lot of the same battle scars. She is my mirror and my opposite and the most caring, non-judgmental person I know. I also want to say thank you to all my friends and the rest of my family as well because they have, not only supported me throughout this whole journey, but they have put themselves in outfits, shoes, makeup, trees, bathtubs, and whatever other crazy concept I've had for a "great picture". They encourage me on a daily basis and if you know me then you know how much I truly cherish these people. Last, but by no means least, I want to shout out to Trevor Richard. He has been a major supporter of StandPoint Photography and of me. He believes in me and celebrates my uniqueness. Thank you all so much.
Peace and Love,
